Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to extend their winning streak to eight games when they host Swallows in the DStv Premiership at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Tuesday evening. The Brazilians have been in scintillating form of late, having won their last seven matches in the league and currently top the standings with a five-point lead.

Sundowns ended their year on a high with a morale-boosting 2-0 win over rivals Orlando Pirates last Friday. Ernst Middendorp, meanwhile, had a losing start in charge of Swallows after a narrow 1-0 loss to Richards Bay on New Year’s Eve. The Birds have only won one game in their last eight matches and are currently 14th on the table, just one point above the relegation zone.
The Brazilians will be hoping to complete a league double over Swallows, having won 3-0 at the same venue last season. Both sides will be looking to start the new year with a win, with Sundowns eyeing a place in the top four and Swallows desperate to move away from the relegation zone.
