Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer has refused to give up on the DStv Premiership title race despite suffering a damaging 1-0 defeat to rivals Mamelodi Sundowns on Friday.
The result saw the Brazilians extend their lead at the top of the table to 12 points, with a game in hand. Despite the setback, Zinnbauer remains hopeful of his team’s title chances, believing that the result will not make a difference in the long run.
“I would have liked to come here with 26 points to play Sundowns or with 27 or with 30 and not with 19,” Zinnbauer said in a press conference.
“This game is not going to make the difference at the end of the season, about the position on the table.” The Spanish tactician went on to stress that the season is still long and that there is still a lot of points to play for. “We are Orlando Pirates, so we will continue until the end,” he added.
Sundowns could extend their lead over Pirates to 15 points should they beat Swallows on Tuesday evening.
