On Friday, 21 July, Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena opened up on the potential technical team changes at the club.
Since Mokwena’s appointment as sole head coach, the future of senior coach Manqoba Mngqithi in particular at the club has been uncertain. Mokwena confirmed that changes were likely, but that they should not be blown out of proportion.
He suggested that the future of any technical member would be decided by the club, and that the club was happy with the contributions of the entire technical team.
“The club is very happy with everyone, from coach Steve, to coach Manqoba, to coach Wendell (Robinson), to Sbu (Sibusiso Mahlangu), who is the physical trainer, the analysts,” he said.
“And at the end of the day it’s the club that decides. The club decides my stay, everyone else’s stay, not just me you know, because the club is far more important than any individual and will outlive each and every single one of us.”
