Riveiro Leads Bucs to Victory Despite Second Half Drought

Orlando Pirates suffered a third straight defeat in the DStv Premiership after going down 2-1 to Cape Town City. The Buccaneers have not scored in the second half of any of their league games this season, prompting head coach Jose Riveiro to open up on the issue.

Speaking to SuperSport after the game, Riveiro said: “There’s no explanation for that, if you want to go deep with that analysis I think we have to talk about the chances that we create, not the amount of goals scored. To score a goal is a complicated thing. Today I think we did enough to capitalise our play, it wasn’t possible against a good team in a difficult scenario, we competed very well.”

Riveiro went on to reflect on the tough start to the season after the break, saying: “It’s been a tough beginning of the season after the break for us. It’s the second defeat in a row, we have to bounce back, that’s what the big teams have the capacity to do, we’re not gonna be an exception.”
