On Tuesday, 25 July, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane responded to questions surrounding the club’s reliance on star striker, Caleb Bonfils Bimenyimana.
The Burundi international is Chiefs’ top goal scorer this season with seven strikes to his name, and due to his aerial prowess and strength, Chiefs’ game plan has largely revolved around finding the lanky forward in the box to finish.
However, the recent 1-0 loss to Sekhukhune United saw the opposition successfully neutralize Bimenyimana, leading to questions over whether Chiefs have a plan B. In response, Zwane said, “We have a plan B, but it’s just that we haven’t been able to utilize it due to the way teams have been setting up against us.
We’ve been trying to find ways to get around that and create chances. We’re working on it and I think it’s only a matter of time before we get it right.” He continued, “We’re aware that teams are now starting to plan for us and we’ve been trying to find ways to counteract that.
We’ve got a few ideas that we’re looking to implement and I think once we do, we’ll be able to find the back of the net more often.” Zwane concluded, “We’re confident that we’ll be able to find a way to break down teams and create chances for our strikers. We’re working hard to make sure that we can do that and I’m sure it’ll pay off in the end.”
