The Buccaneers have had a low scoring season so far, with only ten goals scored in 15 league matches. Riveiro believes that appointing a Striker’s Coach is keeping up with the latest trends in the modern game and compared Chickelday’s position to that of South African coach Benni McCarthy at Manchester United.
Chickelday has worked at English clubs, Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers and the Spanish mentor hopes that the 48-year old will add value in their attacking setup and ambitions of finding the back of the net.

“It’s the way that football is going, nobody gets surprised or discuss the role of a goalkeeper coach for example,” Riveiro said in a post-match press conference. “You have a good example with Benni McCarthy, he’s doing pretty much the same role in Man United and in this case is one more element in our coaching staff,” he added.
Riveiro hopes that Chickelday will be able to help the Buccaneers achieve their collective objectives and contribute to the success of the season.
