Orlando Pirates midfielder Thabang Monare has stated that he doesn’t feel under pressure to perform despite his contract with the club coming to an end in June 2023. Monare initially was released by the club after the two parties failed to agree on terms regarding an extension but he was later retained by Pirates for a further season in October last year.
Speaking at the Pirates media day, Monare stated that he does not need to wait for his contract to come to an end to prove what he is capable of doing. He believes that he should be motivated as an individual and as a footballer, he should be seeking improvement on a daily basis.
This season, Monare has made seven appearances for Pirates, five of which have come as a starter, while he has made two substitute appearances.
