Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has certainly made his mark since taking over the side, with his modern philosophy and tactical nous leading the Brazilians to six consecutive wins with only one goal conceded.
Left-sided utility player Aubrey Modiba has been impressed by the young coach’s dedication to the game, describing him as ‘crazy about football’ and noting that he often works late into the night.
“He is very crazy, he doesn’t sleep. He watches one game more than three times. He makes corrections for each and every player. He is crazy about football, and he works really hard. Sometimes he leaves the office, I don’t know at what time after training, the way he’s so invested,” said Modiba.
The 25-year-old went on to praise Mokwena’s commitment to learning and introducing new elements into the game, saying: “He always tells us that we don’t watch football. He can watch a league in India and when he sees something that he likes, he shows us how it’s done, and he is always looking for new things. It’s nice to see that he is crazy about football.”
Mokwena’s dedication and passion for the game has certainly left an impression on Modiba, and the results speak for themselves. The Brazilians have been in excellent form since the coach’s arrival and will be hoping to continue their impressive run of results as they look to challenge for silverware this season.
