On Tuesday, Mamelodi Sundowns extended their winning streak to ten games after beating Chippa United 2-1.
Despite the victory, Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena believes his team still has room for improvement in the way they protect their lead.

Speaking in a press conference after the game, Mokwena said, “If you want to talk tactics, I think for sure if you look at how we protect the lead, then there’s got to be a lot of improvements. I don’t like the team that protects a lead by protecting the spaces instead of protecting the ball. That’s where we have to get now. It’s protect the ball more, hide it, put it away because that’s the most dangerous thing when you’re in the lead, not the space.”
The erudite tactician went on to explain that the players need time to get used to his methods of defending, but he is confident they will get it right as his charges are receptive to new ideas.
“The space, they need the ball to activate the space but without the ball nothing happens in the game of football. But that also it takes a bit of time to develop the personality but we will get there. We’ve got a very good group of human beings, they will learn, they are willing to learn and that’s the most important thing and that’s the feeling that I get,” he added.
Mamelodi Sundowns will next face SuperSport United in the Tshwane derby on Monday evening.
