Tonight’s Tshwane derby between Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United promises to be an exciting affair.
The Brazilians are in a rich vein of form, having won their last ten matches, and currently sit atop the DStv Premiership table by 11 points. Surprisingly enough, their last defeat came in September last year against tonight’s opponents, SuperSport United.
Matsatsantsa, on the other hand, have seen their six-game unbeaten run come to an end after going down 2-1 against Golden Arrows just over a week ago. Gavin Hunt’s charges dropped down to third on the table, two points behind second-placed Richards Bay and 13 points behind Sundowns.
Hunt will have to do without goalkeeper Ricardo Goss, Grant Margeman and Thabang Sibanyoni who are unable to play against their parent club. The sides will be meeting for the third time this season after the Brazilians booted Matsatsantsa out of the MTN8 in the quarter-finals with a 2-0 win.
Tonight’s match promises to be an exciting affair as both teams battle it out for bragging rights in the Tshwane derby. Kick-off is at 18h00 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
