On Tuesday, Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro addressed the issue of fans disapproving Terrence Dzvukamanja’s substitution against Golden Arrows. The game was locked at 1-1, when Dzvukamanja was brought on in the 74th minute in place of Deon Hotto.
Despite being jeered by some supporters, the Zimbabwean proved his worth by scoring the winning goal in stoppage time, before Vincent Pule settled the contest with a third goal. Riveiro urged fans to trust Dzvukamanja as one of their own, especially in difficult moments, and suggested that they should wait until after the game to express their emotions.
“We need everyone supporting us, pushing us and Terrence came to the field to defend the team, to defend the club, you know it’s always better if we all support him and trust him,” said Riveiro in a press conference.
The Spanish mentor also highlighted the importance of fans pushing the team in the stands, insisting that they are part of the club. “When we started here together I said that it’s gonna be important that the fans are playing the games with us, we play the games together and that’s exactly what it means.
And in moments like this we need the 100 percent of the support, the pushing from the stands,” he said.
