Mahamutsa To Represent Botswana In Upcoming Matches

Former Orlando Pirates defender Rooi Mahamutsa is set to join VTM FC, the Botswana club where former teammate Sifiso Myeni is currently playing, in order to motivate the team. Mahamutsa, who won back-to-back trebles with the Buccaneers, is expected to land in Botswana on Tuesday, January 17, and will head to VTM where he will get an opportunity to motivate the players at the club.

Lawrence Duze from Greenleaf Sports Management told Soccer Laduma that Mahamutsa’s visit to Botswana is purely to motivate the players and that any other developments will be seen in due course. “He has been invited to Botswana to motivate the boys. He will train with the team as well. All the other things will happen if the time arises,” Duze said.

Mahamutsa and Myeni are close friends, having been involved in township football, which led to some speculating that the two are facing financial difficulties. Myeni, however, has denied this and told Soccer Laduma in edition 1306 that neither he nor Mahamutsa are facing financial problems. “I saw when Rooi (Mahamutsa) was trending because he was playing kasi football and people were saying he is broke. He is like a brother to me. But he said he is okay financially and I even heard him speaking to Andile (Ncube) on radio. I am okay financially, there are no problems. And the fact that I came here was not based on money,” Myeni said.
