Burnley Football Club have reportedly increased their offer for South African striker Lyle Foster from €5 million (±R92m) to €7 million (±R130m). This follows Vincent Kompany’s trip to Belgium to watch the 22-year-old up close.
Kompany, who is manager of the English Premier League club, is said to have been pleased with what he saw, and the club have subsequently upped their offer for the former Orlando Pirates forward.
The deal would see Foster’s current club, Westerlo, make a significant profit on the player, whom they purchased for just €1 million (±R18m) in July last year.
At a press conference, Kompany said: “From our side there is no rush, it was an opportunity to see players. To be honest he wasn’t the only player on that pitch although I understand he is the one being talked about now but there is a few more.”
He added: “For us, there is this season and there is next season whether we are in the Premier League, or the Championship and we need to plan ahead. I have been to see other games where I got away with it but not this one. In general, it is a good way to get a good look at players. It is always valuable, but it doesn’t mean as much as that, we will see.”
This season, Foster has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 20 matches.
