On Wednesday, Boitumelo Radiopane made his return to action for Cape Town Spurs after overcoming a series of injury concerns that have plagued him over the last couple of months. The 21-year-old, who joined the Urban Warriors on loan from Orlando Pirates at the start of the season, marked his return with a goal against the University of Pretoria, sending Spurs through to the last 32 of the Nedbank Cup.
Assistant coach Nasief Morris spoke to journalists at the Nedbank Cup draw about Radiopane’s return to action, saying, “I think since the first couple of weeks that we saw him, we knew that there was something there. The only thing was the niggling injuries he encountered. Fortunately for us, he has been injury free, and we hope that it stays like that because we know how valuable he is to the team.”
Morris believes that Radiopane could be the missing link to Spurs’ title hopes, saying, “You saw the goal, this is what we were waiting and hoping for and also looking forward, not only for the cup but for the league because this season, its different for us compared to the last couple of seasons where we were fighting at the bottom, now we find ourselves at the other side of the table and everything is in our reach. We need every single player in our squad to contribute towards us achieving our goals at the end of the season.”
