Kaizer Chiefs captain, Itumeleng Khune, has shouldered the responsibility for the 13 errors that have resulted in 20 goals conceded by the club so far this season.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Chiefs’ match against Mamelodi Sundowns, Khune said: “Football is a team sport and yes, when the team is not doing well, certain individuals will be labelled and given names, but I think that’s what brings the best out of me as an individual in the team.
“I think as a leader, you can’t run away from the situation you are facing, you have to face it head-on because other players look up to you as their role model and a senior member of the team. The veteran goalkeeper, who is the longest serving member of the current Kaizer Chiefs squad, added: “There’s a lot of youngsters in the team and they can learn a lot from me, so with situations like this, I have to rise and give better performances than the one I gave against our previous opponent. So yes, we will be given names, but one game doesn’t define an individual. I’ve been playing for two decades
