On Friday, Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena expressed his belief that Kaizer Chiefs’ recent results give an incorrect impression about their performances as a team. Sundowns will visit Amakhosi at FNB Stadium on Saturday, with Mokwena’s side being the overwhelming favourites to win.
Chiefs have recently lost 4-0 to AmaZulu and 1-0 to Sekhukhune United, but Mokwena is more focused on the performances of Chiefs during these two defeats. He believes that the scoreline does not accurately reflect the performance levels of the team, which he believes has been organized, particularly against Sekhukhune.

“Chiefs will always be Chiefs – a big club historically and needs to be given a lot of respect. Great players on the pitch. Maybe performances have been better than the results suggest, so if you only look at the scoreline, you get (the) wrong impression. If you check the result against Sekhukhune, you get the wrong impression about the performance levels of the team because they are extremely well organized and very clear in their patterns of play and well-drilled schemes. They have good players with a good coach and good technical team around him,” Mokwena said.
Mokwena, who is yet to draw or lose a match since taking over as head coach of Sundowns, does not think either team will sit back on the day. He believes that Chiefs still believe they can win the league, so both teams will be looking for a result that is in their favour.
