Pitso Mosimane has made a remarkable turnaround with Al Ahli Jeddah since taking over the reins in September last year. After finding a team that had gone through 14 coaches in the last five years, Mosimane has managed to guide his side to the top of the Saudi first division.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach quickly left his imprint on the team, tackling their lack of fitness as one of his first areas of concern. He also implemented a playing philosophy, particularly in defence, which has seen his side improve tremendously.
Mosimane has also turned the King Abdullah Sports City into a fortress. Of the six matches his side have played at home, they have conceded just four goals and picked up five victories, scoring 13 goals in the process. They are yet to taste defeat at their home stadium.
The 3-0 win over Al Jabalain on Tuesday evening, has seen Mosimane’s side climb to the summit of the Saudi first division. With the league set to end in the next few months, indications are that Al-Ahli could return to the Saudi Pro League after being relegated in the 2021/22 season.
