Stellenbosch FC are set to complete the signing of former striker Iqraam Rayners before the close of the January transfer window on Thursday night. Rayners joined SuperSport United from Stellies in 2020, but has failed to establish himself as a regular in the team.
This season, Rayners has made 14 appearances in all competitions but is yet to find the back of the net. SuperSport have already completed the signing of Zakhele Lepasa on loan from Orlando Pirates and are open to letting Rayners go before the close of the transfer window.
Stellies have already signed Andre de Jong this month, and now look to add Rayners to their squad in a bid to avoid relegation at the end of the season.
The 27-year-old has registered four assists in all competitions for SuperSport, who are more than happy to part ways with the player, feeling they have enough cover in the team to get through the rest of the season.
Rayners has only made three starts under Gavin Hunt this season, coming on 10 times as a substitute.
