On Thursday, Kaizer Chiefs fans were treated to a debut performance of their new signing, Christian Saile Basomboli, in the DStv Premiership. The Democratic Republic of the Congo international striker was brought on in the second half for Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana and made an immediate impact, assisting in one of the two goals that saw Amakhosi return to winning ways with a 2-0 victory against Royal AM.
Junior ‘Aghahowa’ Khanye, speaking to the Siya crew, was impressed with the highly-rated forward after his maiden match in Mzansi. “Based on what I saw, there is promise although I cannot say much as yet because I haven’t seen much of him. There is promise about the guy because I have seen some good touches from him and he looks like someone who can take players on, which is good for the calibre of a player needed to play for Chiefs,” said Khanye.

“I saw his assist from which Ashley Du Preez scored and that was impressive. I saw him trying a shot at goal but it was off the target and that’s why I say there is promise about the guy. But the question to ask is, can the guy go on to rank among some of the best players to have been signed by Chiefs over the years? I’m talking about guys like Collins Mbesuma, Tinashe Nengomasha and Patrick Mabedi, among others. I’m asking this because we have seen Chiefs signing players like (Edmore) Chirambadare and (Michelle) Katsvairo, the likes of (Anthony Akumu) Agay and Samir Nurkovic just to name a few, as well as (Letlhogonolo) Mirwa and I was not pleased. But like I say, there is hope about this guy (Saile),” concluded Khanye.
After his debut performance, Junior ‘Aghahowa’ Khanye has expressed optimism about the potential of Kaizer Chiefs’ new signing Christian Saile Basomboli. After coming on in the second half of the DStv Premiership match against Royal AM, Basomboli made an immediate impact, assisting in one of the two goals that saw Amakhosi return to winning ways. Khanye was impressed with the highly-rated forward’s good touches and ability to take players on.
The former Chief’s player was pleased with Basomboli’s performance but questioned whether he could rank among some of the best players to have been signed by Chiefs over the years. Khanye believes that there is promise in Basomboli and expressed hope that the new signing could be a success for the club.
