Goss Commends SSU for Handling of Chiefs-Bound Defender

On Friday, SuperSport United goalkeeper Ricardo Goss praised the club for not sidelining Thatayaone Ditlhokwe after the player signed a pre-contract with Kaizer Chiefs.

It is a common occurrence in South African football that players are overlooked for selection after signing a pre-contract with another team. Siyethemba Sithebe, now with Kaizer Chiefs, was not considered for selection at AmaZulu during the second half of last season after penning a pre-contract with Amakhosi.

However, SuperSport made it clear that Ditlhokwe was an integral part of their plans to finish in the top four.

“They (SuperSport) are professional individuals. Some teams would bench players (who sign pre-contracts) or put them out of the team, but SuperSport have proven otherwise. Credit should go to them,” Goss said.

Goss acknowledged that Ditlhokwe will be missed when he leaves for Naturena, but congratulated the Botswana national team captain on the move which will see him spending four years with Amakhosi.

“I am one for partnerships, you know? Like if a pair is doing well and working well together, I always find it uncomfortable once they are separated. But, for him, it’s a good move. It’s a very big move and we just wish him the best in the future. SuperSport has a lot of talent. We will get from the academy,” the Mamelodi Sundowns loanee said.
