On Friday, Orlando Pirates striker coach Scott Chickelday announced his departure from the Soweto giants. Chickelday joined the Buccaneers in early January with the club struggling to find the back of the net on a regular basis.
Since his arrival, Pirates found their scoring touch after scoring nine goals in three matches prior to their 1-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns. Chickelday confirmed on social media that the game against Sundowns was his final one with the Soweto giants.
Not the result I wanted in my last game with @orlandopirates competed and dominated for 90 minutes to lose 1-0 against top of the table @Masandawana Thanks to everyone involved with the club and & to the fantastic supporters for making me so welcome! OnceAlways upthebucs pic.twitter.com/Y5BRY2NyNa

Chickelday’s departure comes at a time when the Buccaneers are looking to turn their fortunes around in the Nedbank Cup. They will take on first division side All Stars next weekend.
