The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has clarified the confusion surrounding the DStv Premiership badge on the Mamelodi Sundowns’ jersey sleeve. The badge reads ‘DSTV Premiership champions’ with the season ‘2022/23’ below it, leading to speculation that the PSL had already crowned Sundowns as champions for the current season.

The PSL has admitted that the confusion could have been avoided and that the ‘2022/23′ on Sundowns’ sleeve represents the season that is currently in progress. Fhathuwani Mpfuni of the PSL told PSLSA, “Maybe it should have been positioned differently to avoid the confusion.” The PSL did not want to comment further on the matter.
The badges on the sleeves of other DStv Premiership clubs do not say 2022/23, leading to further confusion. Supporters have been left wondering if this was a genuine error on the part of the PSL.
