On Saturday, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane suggested that it is a compliment to have the opposition “playing low block tactics” against his side, considering where they come from. This came after Chiefs were held to a goalless draw by TS Galaxy, who employed a low lying block strategy, especially after going a man down early in the second stanza and Amakhosi could not unlock their defence.
Zwane said that they do not have such issues and that it is a compliment to the improvement they have made in changing the playing style of the team. He said that teams have realized they can’t go pound to pound with them anymore.
“But it tells you that we’re in the right direction compared to where we were and where we are. You know previously, teams would play pound for pound and believe they can beat Chiefs,” he continued.
He added that it is unfortunate that when they make a mistake, they get punished and they just have this poor decision-making that lets them down most of the time.
Chiefs take on an unpredictable Maritzburg United in the Nedbank Cup on Friday.
