Saturday saw Orlando Pirates set to welcome the club’s teenage sensation Boitumelo Radiopane back from a loan spell, and the Soweto giants are likely to unleash another young star by promoting Relebohile Ratomo to the first team.
Ratomo has been in impressive form for Bucs’ DStv Diski Challenge side and his pending first team promotion comes as no surprise to many of those who have been following his career. A product of the SAFA-Transnet School of Excellence, Ratomo had been linked with Mamelodi Sundowns before being snapped up by the Soweto giants.
Last year, Ratomo won the Pirates U21 Cup’s Most Valuable Player of the Tournament, as well as Gauteng’s Engen Knockout Challenge Player of the Tournament and Midfielder of the Tournament awards respectively, among other accolades.
These impressive performances have earned Ratomo an invitation to train with the first team, and the young star is expected to make his debut for the Buccaneers in the near future.
