Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has described the challenges his side faces ahead of their trip to Cameroon in the CAF Champions League. The Tshwane giants had a perfect start in the group stages after edging Al-Hilal 1-0 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium this past weekend, and are now scheduled to play against Coton Sport away on Friday evening in their second match.

Mokwena commented in a press conference that the club has sent an advanced team to Cameroon to prepare the logistics, and that the team is experienced in such matters. However, he said that the main challenge will be moving from high altitude to sea level in Garoua, Cameroon.
“We don’t want to spend too much time there because of that space, but we also have to have some form of adaptation to the climate conditions because of the weather,” he said. He also noted that the club is experienced in such matters, and that many boxes have been ticked in preparation.
Sundowns will remain on the road from Cameroon, as they are set to face last season’s runners-up and FIFA Club World Cup semi-finalists Al Ahly on February 25 in Cairo, Egypt.
