As Mamelodi Sundowns prepare to take on Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League on Saturday, two of the most talented attackers to emerge from the club’s Diski Challenge structure will face off. Percy Tau, who left for Europe in 2018, and Cassius Mailula, who is in his first season in the first team, are shining examples of Sundowns’ commitment to developing fine talent.

The reigning DStv Premiership champions have often been questioned for the millions they have spent in the market, but rarely get credited for the work they do behind the scenes. Tau won the PSL footballer of the season and the golden boot award during his time with the club, while Mailula, at the age of 21, has already become the youngest Sundowns player to reach double figures in a campaign.
The clash in Cairo this week will be the ultimate test for Mailula, who has already found the back of the net in both of Sundowns’ Champions League group stage matches thus far. Al Ahly have dominated the competition since Mailula was born in 2001, winning eight Champions League titles. However, the youngster has already shown that he is always up for a challenge and he will be looking to announce himself on the continent.
