On Monday, Orlando Pirates talisman Thembinkosi Lorch made a long-awaited return to action after almost five months on the sidelines. Defender Thapelo Xoki was elated to have his teammate back and made an emotional vow to support Lorch as he embarks on his comeback journey.
“Lorch is good for us. It’s great for us. He is a star player and he is also good for the country. So having him back is great,” said Xoki, speaking to the Siya crew on the sidelines of the Soweto Derby press conference held at Wanderers Sports Club in Johannesburg.
“We wish him an injury-free season going forward. He is going to give us a lot in terms of our dynamics. We should not put pressure on him and try to support him. We know it has not been easy for him. It has been months, so we have to make it easy on him and support him,” Xoki added.
Since Lorch’s return to action, Pirates have had two victories, 2-0 and 2-1 against All Stars and Maritzburg United respectively. It is unclear whether Lorch will be part of the starting XI when Pirates take on Chiefs in the much-anticipated clash on Saturday.
The game gets underway at 15:30.
