Chippa United have made a big decision regarding their coaching situation following a string of disappointing results. On Sunday, the Chilli Boys were defeated 2-1 by Swallows FC at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, leaving them 13th on the DStv Premiership log and tied on 24 points with 14th placed Swallows.
The Gqeberha-based club had previously enjoyed an impressive start of four back-to-back victories after replacing Daine Klate as the club’s head coach earlier in the season. However, recent matches with Morgan Mammila at the helm saw the team struggle for results.

With the club sensing danger with nine matches to go, a decision has been taken to replace Mammila with Kurt Lentjies who had previously held the role of head coach at the Eastern Cape side. Last season, Lentjies saved Chippa from relegation after he was appointed as a player/coach, following the departure of Gavin Hunt from the club.
Chippa will take on AmaZulu in the club’s next assignment at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.
