On Tuesday, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) announced Andile ‘Ace’ Ncobo as their new Football Department General Manager. In an interview with Marawa Sports Worldwide, Ncobo revealed his new role entails multiple tasks, including filling the role of a spokesperson for the League.
“Pretty similar, with some additional tasks as well, for instance you may very well know that we haven’t had a spokesperson for lack of a better term for the League,” Ncobo said. “So I’ve been given that task as well, in addition to all other duties that fall under my portfolio in the office.”
Ncobo pointed out that there has been a vacuum in the communications department in the league and he has been appointed to bridge the gap between the League, the media and most importantly the supporters.
“We respect the fact that we have media partners, we respect the conduit that you present to us so that we can send these messages sometimes on behalf of our sponsors and the League. But primarily aimed at the people that we respect, the people that we exist for, the people that we create these beautiful conversations for and amongst, the football fans,” Ncobo said.
“So we’ve always got to be available so that they don’t ask questions and nobody is there to answer. They don’t have to stay in the dark when we are there to switch on the light bulb.”
