Gallants’ Bid for Survival Takes a Hit in Stalemate with Galaxy

On Wednesday, Marumo Gallants and TS Galaxy played to a goalless draw in the DStv Premiership at the Free State Stadium. Gallants coach Raymond Mdaka had recalled the likes of Katlego Otladisa, Ranga Chivaviro and Nonyane following their defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup on Thursday. The visitors, TS Galaxy, were boosted by the return of Marks Munyai in the defence after their win over AmaZulu.

The first half saw both sides struggle to threaten the opposition’s goal, with TS Galaxy shading possession in the early parts of the encounter. Gallants made their first switch ten minutes into the second half as Monde Mphambaniso replaced Letsie Koapeng in the attack. The second half was much of the same, with neither side able to find an opening in the latter stages of the game, leading to a share of the spoils on the day.

The result leaves Marumo Gallants in 13th place in the DStv Premiership with 17 points from 17 matches. Meanwhile, TS Galaxy remain in 8th place with 24 points from 17 matches.
