Insider Drops Hints About Contract Talks for Chiefs Midfielder

Kaizer Chiefs could be set to extend the contract of one of their midfielders, according to reports. The Siya crew has been informed that Siyethemba Sithebe, the former AmaZulu FC attacker, could have his stay at the club extended by two years.

Insiders at the club have suggested that the Amakhosi would have to act in order to avoid the player signing a pre-contract with an interested suitor in January 2024.

A source has told the Siya crew: “It’s true. He struggled with game-time at the start of the season and management was thinking of loaning him out in January, but since Njabulo Blom left and Cole Alexander was out injured, the technical team has entrusted that central midfield position to him and it seems he has impressed the team so much so that they want to keep him for another two years. They don’t want to wait until it’s too late and that’s why they have set the ball rolling in terms of negotiations for the extension of his contract.”

The 30-year-old has represented Bafana Bafana on eight occasions and has proven to be a key figure in the Chiefs midfield after the departure of Blom to the MLS in the USA.
