Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has provided an update on the situation of experienced defender Eric Mathoho, who has made just one appearance for the Amakhosi this season.
Speaking to the media after their 2-1 Nedbank Cup win over Casric Stars at the FNB Stadium, Zwane painted a gloomy picture of ‘Tower’s’ return.
“I don’t want to lie, he’s been out for some time, and we don’t know in terms of the recovery. As things stand, he hasn’t started jogging yet and that alone tells you that it’s not going to happen anytime soon in terms of coming back into play,” he said.
Despite this, Zwane remains hopeful that Mathoho’s experience will be a valuable asset to the Chiefs dressing room. “But should he recover sooner rather than later, we’ll be happy to have him back because of his experience and we are also aware of what he can do for us,” he continued.
