Chiefs Establish Two-Point Lead, Bucs Endure First Loss

Kaizer Chiefs opened up a two-point gap at the top of the DStv Diski Challenge table after beating Polokwane City 2-0 on Sunday morning. Amakhosi won their fourth game in a row since starting their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Orlando Pirates, while Polokwane remain winless since the beginning of the season.

Orlando Pirates suffered their first loss of the season after going down 1-0 to Cape Town City on Sunday morning at Malta Park Sports Complex. City broke the deadlock eight minutes before the interval as they ended their two-game losing streak.

Mamelodi Sundowns won their third consecutive game after edging TS Galaxy 2-1 on Saturday morning at Lucas Moripe Stadium. The win took Sundowns up to third on the table, just two points behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

SuperSport United’s search for their first victory continued after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Chippa United on Saturday morning at Wolfson Stadium. A brace by Thabang Mahlangu rescued a point for Matsatsantsa, who drew their third game of the season.

Stellenbosch won their second game of the season after beating Cape Town Spurs 2-0 in the Western Cape derby on Sunday afternoon at Idas Valley Stadium. Mervin Boji handed Stellies the lead within the first five minutes and Azola Jakalashe secured the maximum points with the second goal in stoppage time.

Sekhukhune United climbed up to second on the table despite a 1-1 draw against Richards Bay on Saturday morning at Isak Steyl Stadium. After a goalless first stanza, Asekho Tiwani broke the deadlock for Sekhukhune with 24 minutes to go but Ntlonelo Bomelo equalised for the Natal Rich Boyz with two minutes left.

Golden Arrows won their first game of the campaign after edging Royal AM 2-1 on Saturday morning at Chatsworth Stadium. After the sides were deadlocked at half-time, Khanyisani Malinga eventually sent Arrows ahead early in the second stanza and Sbusiso Mtshali doubled their lead with 17 minutes remaining.

AmaZulu finally got their first win of the season after a narrow 1-0 victory over Moroka Swallows on Sunday afternoon at Chatsworth Stadium. After a goalless first stanza, Nelisa Gumede eventually broke the deadlock for Usuthu ten minutes into the second stanza.
