Kaizer Chiefs have been given a boost ahead of the upcoming international friendly matches, as midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane has been called up to the Bafana Bafana squad as a replacement for Percy Tau. Initially, the Amakhosi had just one representative in the squad, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, but now they will boast two.
The South African national team will take on Ivory Coast and Eswatini this month, and head coach Hugo Broos had already named his 23-man squad for the clashes. However, Tau has been forced to withdraw due to ‘personal reasons’, leaving an opening for Mdantsane.
The 24-year-old has been in impressive form for Chiefs since joining from Cape Town City at the start of the season, setting up two assists in 11 matches.
Mdantsane will now be looking to use the opportunity to impress on the international stage and stake his claim for a regular spot in the Bafana side.
