Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr has expressed his optimism for the club’s future, despite a difficult start to the season in both the Premiership and the MTN8.
Motaung Jr has been busy bolstering the squad this season, and is now looking to build a team that can compete over the next four to five years.
“We have a very new team,” he told the media.
“Nine players this year and also from last year, coupled with youngsters from the Academy. It takes time to get a consistent base with all these players from different backgrounds.” “We took a conscious effort to improve in key areas which we thought were very important for us to fix in the short term,” he continued.
“But it is also in line with the longer term. We can’t be too busy trying to fix all the holes immediately. I think we are having a good mix of youth and experience in the team.”
Motaung Jr admitted that the club’s current position is not where it wants to be, but he is confident in the squad assembled and believes it will reap rewards in the future.
“We are very confident in the squad we have assembled,” he said. “And we are not finished by any regard. We are always to evolve and take things further.”
