Kaizer Chiefs have already bolstered their defence with the signings of Given Msimango from TS Galaxy and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe from SuperSport United, but according to reliable sources close to the club, Amakhosi may be looking to further strengthen their backline with the addition of Stellenbosch FC left back Fawaaz Basadien.
The source added that left back is a position Chiefs need to strengthen, and the former Moroka Swallows defender is a favoured option.
“You know they wanted to bring in a Tanzanian left back (Mohamed Hussein) to beef up their left back position but that didn’t work hence they have Sifiso Hlanti in for another year,” said the source, referring to a link to Hussein that PSLSA had previously reported on.
The source also indicated that the club’s scouts are working on the potential Basadien transfer, with the intention of bringing him in during the January transfer window.
“If all goes well they want to bring him in January. You heard that the Sporting Director (Kaizer Motaung Jr) said that they are not done with signings yet and he (Basadien) is one of the players that they have been monitoring,” said the source.
The Siya crew contacted Chiefs for comment but no response was received while preparing this story.
