Mamelodi Sundowns, the reigning champions of the South African Premiership, have unveiled their new third kit ahead of their participation in the inaugural African Football League.
The kit, designed by Sundowns’ sponsors Puma, is a dark blue jersey inspired by the African sky at the dawn of a new day.
Brett Bellinger, Marketing Director of Puma, commented on the kit, saying, “With the team about to represent the Nation in the inaugural African Football League we have designed this kit to honour Mamelodi Sundowns as they take their place amongst the other as giants of African football. A new League deserves a stylish and special kit for our Team.”
Sundowns will begin their campaign in the African Football League this weekend, with an away fixture against Angolan outfit Petro de Luanda. Should they progress to the semi-finals, they will face either Tanzanian giants Simba SC or Egyptian kings Al Ahly.
Before taking part in the Super League, Sundowns will play TS Galaxy in the Carling Knockout at Mbombela Stadium on Wednesday.
Head coach Rulani Mokwena will need to rotate his players during this hectic period to ensure they are all fresh and that they avoid injury.
The new kit marks an exciting period for Sundowns as they look to make their mark on the African continent, and with the new kit, they will certainly be looking to make a statement.
