Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly monitoring Chippa United striker Elmo
Kambindu as they look to bolster their goal-scoring options. Sources close
to the player and the two clubs have indicated that the Namibian is
impressing the Amakhosi, though the technical team reshuffle in the last
two days could influence a potential move.
“For now I know there is interest from Chiefs and that they are monitoring
him. As for when they can sign him I am not sure but as I have said there
is interest in him,” a source told PSLSA.
Kambindu has scored three goals in three league games this season, a
respectable ratio for strikers in South Africa. The 30-year-old joined
Chippa last season from Costa Do Sol of Mozambique on a two-year contract
and is set to be a free agent next year.
“From the look of things Chiefs need someone who can score goals urgently.
They are monitoring him and are interested in Elmo (Kambindu) but I don’t
know whether they will go for him in January or if they will wait for the
end of the season and get him for free,” said a second source.
“But they have indicated that they need an outright striker right now, as
they say they create chances but can’t convert them,” the source added.
PSLSA contacted Kaizer Chiefs and Chippa United for comment but no
response was received at the time of publication.
