On Monday, Kaizer Chiefs announced the departure of Molefi Ntseki as
their coach, following a poor run of results in the four months he was in
charge.
Cavin Johnson, who was recently appointed as the club’s interim coach, has
spoken out on the matter, saying he empathizes with Ntseki and his
predecessor Arthur Zwane, who was handed a role in the club’s development.
“I empathise with Coach Molefi (Ntseki) and Coach (Arthur) Zwane but, as
we all know, that’s football. I want to say that I appreciate their hard
work and the solid platform they have left that I aim to build on,” said
Johnson.
The former Bafana Bafana coach oversaw 13 matches during his time in
charge, with six ending in defeat, three in a stalemate, and just four
wins. This poor run of results resulted in the club’s fans revolting, with
objects being hurled in the direction of Ntseki on no less than three
occasions.
Johnson has opted to keep assistant coach Dillon Sheppard as part of his
coaching staff and will face his first challenge as Chiefs coach against
Lamontville Golden Arrows on Saturday.
