On Saturday, Kaizer Chiefs took stern action against some of their
supporters whose behaviour led to the club being found guilty for a third
time by the PSL Disciplinary Committee. The club was fined R300 000,
wholly suspended for a period of six months, whilst their sanctions of a
R50 000 fine and a possible lockout were contravened and came into action.
In response to the incident, Chiefs released a statement saying that
criminal charges have been instituted against those responsible for the
misconduct in the games against TS Galaxy, SuperSport United and AmaZulu.
The statement also thanked the stakeholders who assisted in identifying
the perpetrators and urged law enforcement agencies to take decisive
action.
The statement further encouraged supporters to conduct themselves like
true Amakhosi supporters and help ensure safety of all other supporters in
the stadium. It also thanked all those who had come to the stadium and
left peacefully.
