On Saturday, Mamelodi Sundowns thumped Al Ahly 5-2 at the Loftus Versveld
Stadium to book their place in the CAF Champions League quarter finals.
Goals from Mohamed Sherif and Percy Tau were not enough for the Egyptians
to stop the rampant Brazilians.
Following the game, Al Ahly head coach Marcel Kohler was full of
compliments for the Chloorkop-based outfit and tipped them to win their
first Champions League title since 2016.

“Yes, Sundowns with this coach and this team can go all the way in the
tournament. They have a very good team. The coach prepared them very well
and they earned the victory,” he said.
“I think if they focus and keep their concentration, they will go far in
this tournament.”
Sundowns now sit atop group B with 10 points, while Al Ahly occupy third
place with four points. The Brazilians will be looking to extend their
lead at the top of the group when they face Al Ahly again on 12 March.
