Shabalala’s Pledge to Chiefs Fans

Kaizer Chiefs earned their spot in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals on
Sunday, after defeating Casric Stars 2-1 at FNB Stadium.

The Soweto giants took the lead in the first half, with Bonfils-Caleb
Bimenyimana scoring the opener. Ashley du Preez then sealed the win in the
second half.

Mduduzi Shabalala, Kaizer Chiefs forward, expressed his gratitude to the
club’s supporters after the match. He said, “Firstly I’d like to thank the
Almighty and the Kaizer Chiefs family for giving us the opportunity to
come here to express ourselves. Going back to the game, we knew it was not
going to be an easy one but the important thing is that we got the early
goal which setup a good momentum for us, even though we missed so many
chances.”

Shabalala acknowledged the team’s struggles in creating goal-scoring
opportunities this season, but is confident they are improving: “It’s
something that we’ve been lacking throughout the season but the good thing
is that we’re getting there and we’re creating the goal-scoring
opportunities.”

The young midfielder also promised the team’s commitment to end their
eight-year trophy drought. He said, “Obviously we’re trying all our level
best to bring back the club where it belongs and we’re doing well so far.
It’s just that we must keep on working hard and keep on getting those
three points, we’ll get it right. We promise that we’ll fight until the
last and thank you for the support.”
