Malesela Leads Baroka to First Win, Orbit Regains Top Spot!

On Sunday, Baroka won their first game of the season in Dan Malesela’s
second game in charge after a last-gasp 1-0 win over Venda Football
Academy in the Limpopo derby.

Kabelo Kgositsile scored the winner for Bakgaga in the last minute of the
match, which saw them climb up to tenth on the log with seven points while
Venda dropped down to the bottom of the table with five points.

University of Pretoria won two games on the bounce for the first time
after edging Black Leopards 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. An early goal from
Lulama Maqoko was enough to hand AmaTuks back-to-back wins and move them
up to sixth on the log with 12 points while Leopards dropped down to 11th
spot with seven points.

Orbit College returned to the top of the table after edging Marumo
Gallants 3-2 in a five-goal thriller. Orbit took a two-goal lead to the
break and nearly threw away the game after Gallants got two goals in the
second stanza.

However, the North West-based side got the winner in the dying minutes
and moved two points clear at the top of the table. Bahlabane Ba Ntwa fell
down to seventh on the log with nine points. Magesi suffered their first
loss of the season after a 3-2 defeat to JDR Stars on Saturday afternoon.

JDR opened the scoring on 20 minutes and Mcedi Vandala levelled matters
for Dikwena eight minutes before the break. The Hammerboys restored their
lead early in the second stanza and got a two-goal cushion with eight
minutes to go.

Tshepo Matsemela reduced the deficit for Magesi in the last minute from
the penalty spot but that was not enough to preserve their unbeaten run.
The win took the Tshwane side up to fifth on the table, one place and two
points behind Magesi. Maritzburg United won back-to-back games for the
first time after edging Platinum City Rovers 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The win took Maritzburg up to second on the table, two points behind
leaders Orbit College while City Rovers dropped down to 14th with five
points. Milford won their first game of the season after beating Casric
Stars 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

minutes before time. Casric slipped down to eighth on the log with eight
points while Milford moved off the bottom of the table by just one place,
up to 15th.

Pretoria Callies remained without a win after they were held to a 1-1
draw by Upington City on Saturday afternoon. Following a goalless
first-half, Callies broke the deadlock early in the second stanza but the
visitors were reduced to ten men just before the hour-mark after Ismail
got a red-card for a bad challenge.

Bafana Ba Gucci capitalized on their numerical advantage, as they rescued
a point with the equaliser four minutes before time. Callies and Upington
were left lying 12th and 13th on the log respectively, with the same
number of points, six.

On Friday, Hungry Lions won their third game in a row after thrashing NB
La Masia 4-0. Raymond Daniels gave Lions an early lead, Valtyn gave them a
two-goal cushion on the hour-mark. Pitso Tlotlego put the result beyond
doubt for the visitors ten minutes before time and Katlego Cwinyane rubbed
salt into the wounds of La Masia with the fourth goal in stoppage time.

behind leaders Orbit College while La Masia had to settle for ninth spot.
