Ntseki Reflects on First Home Loss: ‘It’s a Difficult One to Explain’

On Saturday, Kaizer Chiefs suffered their first home defeat of the DStv
Premiership season after going down 1-0 to Cape Town City. Despite
dominating possession throughout the match, Amakhosi were unable to find a
way past goalkeeper Darren Keet.

Head coach Molefi Ntseki opened up about the difficulty his side faced in
trying to break down the Citizens’ defensive setup. He noted that the team
stayed too deep and enjoyed possession in the wrong areas, which prevented
them from putting their opponents under pressure.

Ntseki also pointed out that the Soweto giants failed to take advantage
of the space in front of City’s centre-backs and were too late to get into
the box.

He believes that if the team had been able to move the defenders and
create more goal-scoring opportunities, the result may have been
different.
