On Friday, former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lebogang Manyama has not
kicked a ball since parting ways with the club at the end of the 2022/23
season. However, the Siya crew has been informed of the latest news
regarding the 32-year-old Alexandra-born player.
Following his exit from Chiefs in June last year, Manyama enjoyed a brief
training stint with his former club Cape Town City, but a deal did not
materialize as the player was still carrying a knee injury that plagued
his time with Chiefs.
The latest news is that Manyama has since undergone surgery on the knee
and is working towards a comeback. Playing time during the 2022/23
campaign has been ruled out, but the 2016/17 PSL Footballer of the Season
has targeted next season for his return, according to Siya sources.
“He has been working hard to get back. He is always in the gym and wants
to be the Manyama that everyone knows. Next season we’ll see the best of
him,” the source told the crew.
In his last season on the books of Chiefs, Manyama featured just 10 times
as he battled with injury and form, before he was ultimately released by
the Glamour Boys upon the expiry of his contract. He is now among the most
valuable free agents in the country.
