On the Move? Jali Expresses Interest in Switch to City

On Friday, news broke that Andile Jali could be on his way to Cape Town
City, as the Citizens are reportedly keen on his services. Kickoff.com
reported that the 32-year-old reigning Midfielder of the Season is the
subject of an audacious bid, with his contract set to expire at the end of
the 2022/23 season.

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has expressed his desire to keep
Jali, but has refused to comment on the matter since. Jali’s long-term
agent Mike Makaab has revealed that the final decision lies with Sundowns.

Now, according to well-placed sources, Jali would welcome a move to the
Mother City. City are looking to replace Mpho Makola, who left the club
before the end of the January transfer window, and Jali is seen as the
ideal replacement.

Despite his successful 2021/22 campaign, Jali has seen a decline in his
game-time this season, having made 14 appearances in all competitions,
with 10 of those coming as a starter. As his contract comes to an end in
just four months, the former University of Pretoria, Orlando Pirates and
Oostende player may be plying his trade in Cape Town next season.
