Caleb: If It Wasn’t for My Injuries, I Could Have Done Better

Kaizer Chiefs striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana has opened up about his
struggles with injuries since joining Amakhosi at the start of the current
season. The Burundian attacker has managed to score seven goals in five
matches, but believes his tally could have been higher if it wasn’t for
his injuries.

“On my side, I have been on injuries for sometime but when I stay focused,
I scored seven goals in five matches. If it was not my injuries, I could
have done much better than this. But since I am given the chance to play
when I am fit, I am looking forward to scoring more goals. The injuries
have really disturbed me,” said Bimenyimana on the sidelines of the Soweto
Derby press conference at Wanderers Sports Club in Johannesburg.

Despite not getting on the scoresheet since against Golden Arrows in
December, the 25-year-old is looking forward to featuring in the upcoming
derby against Orlando Pirates, after missing out on the last clash.

“As a player, I am ready for the derby. As a team we are ready for the
derby. I always say, you play the derby to win the derby and we will stick
to the game plan for us to make sure we win. I have played in big games
before and I know what to expect from such a game. It will be tough but we
are going for a win,” he added.

Bimenyimana currently sits behind the current top goalscorer, Mamelodi
Sundowns’ Peter Shalulile (9), SuperSport United’s Bradley Grobler (8) and
level with Downs’ Cassius Mailula and Chippa United’s Etiosa Ighodaro.
