Chiefs Learn from Blom Mistake: Secure Promising Youngster’s Future

Kaizer Chiefs have secured the future of one of their promising
youngsters, Bontle Molefe, by tying him down to a new long-term contract.
Reports indicate that the 20-year-old goalkeeper has penned a three-year
deal with Amakhosi.

The move is believed to have been made to avoid a potential replay of the
Njabulo Blom saga. Blom’s contract was left to run into its last six
months and as a consequence, Chiefs received much less than what they
would have liked for their midfield star.

Molefe is a product of the Chiefs development structures and has worked
his way up to the first team where he is now the fourth-choice goalkeeper.
He enjoyed an assessment in Europe with Belgian outfit KVC Westerlo
alongside Mduduzi Shabalala, another who has set the scene alight for
Chiefs this season.

Molefe is yet to make an official appearance for Chiefs – but club
insiders have identified the shot-stopper as the club’s future number one
and their latest move to hold onto him is the biggest indicator thereof.
