Decoding How Downs Demonstrated ‘Respect’ to Al Ahly

On Wednesday, Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena praised his
technical staff for their hard work in preparing for their game against Al
Ahly in Cairo. The Brazilians earned a 2-2 draw, maintaining their
unbeaten run in the CAF Champions League and remaining top of their group
by a point.

Mokwena revealed that the technical team had watched seven or eight Al
Ahly matches in the morning of the game, and said that it was a very
difficult game against a very good side. Thapelo Morena salvaged a point
for Sundowns with the equaliser ten minutes before time.

The draw also meant that Sundowns had a six-point lead ahead of the
Egyptian giants, who will face Coton Sport on Saturday before travelling
to Pretoria a week later.

Mokwena emphasised the need to keep their feet on the ground and continue
to fight for points in the group stages, saying that no points would be
given to them.

Sundowns will resume their domestic schedule when they clash with Marumo
Gallants in the Nedbank Cup round of 16 encounter on Thursday evening.
