Zwane Contract Negotiations: Downs Initiates Talks with Superstar?

Mamelodi Sundowns are keen to keep one of their star players, Themba
Zwane, at the club for the foreseeable future. According to reports, the
33-year-old vice-captain, whose contract expires in June 2024, is in talks
for a new and improved two-year deal.

A source close to the club told the Siya crew: “The two-year contract is
already on the table. And knowing the parties involved, it won’t be long
before Themba (Zwane) can sign a new contract. Its easy when its done
early because in December this year he will be a free agent if he doesn’t
sign in time. But there is nothing to worry about. All will be fine.”

The player’s agent, Jazzman Mahlakgane of Proffesionalz, commented on the
situation, saying: “I am not really worried about him. He has been one of
the most consistent players in the team and he has done well for himself
and the team as well. He is one player at his age who has been consistent
for four years in a row. That’s incredible. So yeah, about the contract,
we will definitely be talking. I have no doubt about that.”

Zwane joined Mamelodi Sundowns in 2011 from Vardos FC of Tembisa. In 2013
he was loaned to Mpumalanga Black Aces, but since his return in 2014 he
has been an influential member of the team and was part of the 2016 CAF
Champions League-winning side under the tutelage of Pitso Mosimane.

The Siya crew has reported that Mamelodi Sundowns have crucial decisions
to make regarding the contracts of Sphelele Mkhulise, Reyaad Pieterse,
Andile Jali, Surprise Ralani, Haashim Domingo, Mothobi Mvala, Thapelo
Morena, Brian Onyango and Gift Motupa.
